MEET THE USERS
After thorough research on our target users, I developed personas that helps us understand what design solutions to deliver that cater to user's needs such as building relationships and solving social isolation
IDEATION
I decided doing a Crazy Eights exercise would help develop a large quantity of ideas that focused on features catering to community building.
SKETCHING & WIREFRAMING
Starting off by creating paper wireframe helped quickly create the outlines needed to iterate user flow and make necessary changes needed to adhere to both user and business goals.
I started out sketching out paper wireframes for the mobile app screens that can be translated over to the website. I wanted to include key elements such as navigation, distinguished buttons, and imagery that would help provide a good user experience.
LOW-FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

After sketching out wireframes, I focused on elements that helped provide clear/urgent information to those within the area. In addition, allowing those to see events based off their attendance response.
Moving onto creating the low-fidelity prototype, I created a flow that allows users to explore the app and test out key features to help communicate with one another.

FINDINGS
NOTIFICATIONS
"I like the overall layout of this, it's familiar to other social media apps I use like Facebook so getting around isn't too bad.
However, I would like to see any new or unread messages I have like in groups or from friends."
MAP HELPER
"I think this map feature is really neat and can come to some use to all kinds of people. I had a hard time finding a message post that was urgent. If that could have been further emphasized to me, I think that would have been great."
ACTION BUTTONS
"It was hard for me to find some of the buttons, like for the first prompt I kept looking over the post button when it was right in front of my face! I think some strong colors will help me notice a bit quicker."
PROTOTYPE
The high-fidelity prototype had adjustments made based off the usability and the low-fidelity prototype that helped users find alerts and utilize key features.

KEY TAKEAWAY
Upon finishing my last project within the Google UX Design Certification Course, I was able to apply all my knowledge into my last project catering to social good. My time working on this project, HouseMates, has allowed me to grow as a UX Designer and learn the complexity of having a product be available on all digital platforms.
In addition, pushing and contributing for accessibility within communities has emphasized my love for UX Design. By applying a well-structured information architecture that caters to user's needs, gaining and analyzing data from user research, and coming to a feasible design solution I was able to create a product that helps bridge that gaps within less-informed neighborhoods.
